Incorperating found materials, objects, and textiles is an essential practice in of my sculptures- and certainly all my mixed media work. I built Anatomy in May 2023 after finding an old yoga mat on a curb in someone’s junk pile. I find this imperative of resourcefulness, finding new solutions and overcoming barriers within the material, to be a very exciting process. Other materials I used were paper lanterns, a shattered mirror, light bulbs and paper towel. Here I reference my love for mosaic and- more covertly- my interest in natural science. Through the various shapes and colors I intended to combine seeming incompatible textures and forms to work as a cohesive ensemble.
